March 25, 2013 - This wine developed greatly over the period of around an hour and a half. I had the first glass immediately upon opening the bottle. The color (garnet) suggested a much older vintage. The opening aroma was black cherries, tart cherries, and butterscotch. At first the wine was a little flat on the finish for a bottle at this price point. By the second glass the wine had opened up considerably; it now had floral essences, and an undertone of soft oak. By the third glass, throughout the second half of the bottle; the wine had developed into an amazing example of old-world style expressed beautifully by new-world grapes: rich, yet smooth, undertones of pine sap, and an intense lingering finish of tart cherries, rosemary, and mild vanilla. A fantastic wine!
