May 1, 2013 - Fascinating color, so deep and brooding, but so highly reflective, too. Not going to bother with the descriptors, except to say it's engaging, pure and, (strange I find myself saying this) a bit magical, at least for me since I've not observed quite that combination of fruits, spices and floral tones before. Do I think it's a 100 point wine? No. Is it worth $600? Not hardly. But it's not the wine being sold as much as it's the tale, the legend, and, of course, the points. In summation: Excellent, near Epic bottle of $100 wine. Very good to excellent $150 bottle, and a decent $200 bottle. Shows significant promise down the road, but also very approachable now (not sure how much airtime the Somm gave this). The wee dose of Cab Sauv was quite a nice touch.

Served non-blind, Penfolds/Grange dinner, Del Frisco's, Denver. Natural Cork (the only Penfolds wine that had a cork closure on the night)
