May 25, 2013 - I clearly like this more than most people, but both bottles I've had have been excellent. On a PnP, the nose was a perfect balance of fruit, spice, and alcohol. Upon tasting, the wine is not at all a fruit bomb. The dark fruits are there but elegant. A bit of pepper underlies the fruit and makes it interesting. The alcohol is in perfect balance and the tannins are present without overwhelming. While I normally like more fruit (I'm a big fan of some Howell Mountain cabs), the balance and harmony of this wine really impress me. Not cheap, but something I truly enjoy.

5/26/13, 1:29 PM - A few days ago the winemaker for Catena Zapata visited my city. We had a vertical of Nicolas 01, 03, 05, 07, and 08. If you really liked this wine I suggest you try the 08. The favourite vintage of the winemaker was the 2004 and I definitely agree, but saddly it is very difficult to find. I have 7 bottles of the 04 at home :) . Cheers!

5/26/13, 7:15 PM - Wren460, thanks for the comment. I'll try the 2008, and if you want to send me a bottle or two of the 2007, I'll be happy to drink that too.

I really did like the 2007, but wish the wine was cheaper.
