May 24, 2013 - (WineGate) Clear pale lemon color with green hues. On the nose the wine is clean, it has a medium intensity showing flint at first that quickly goes away, blossom, dominant aromas of green fruit with pear mostly, pineapple, lemon, green bell pepper, with sweet-ish notes of apricot and what at first thought they were from autolysis but after watching the label with caution I read that 20% of the wine spent 6 months in oak, it was like lemon tart! Really nice .
In the palate the wine delivers almost instantly its high acidity and dryness of its origin. Medium alcholo level and full body with massive green character of apple and pear, lemon again with just a hint of white pepper.
Ends with a medium to long aftertaste of green fruit, steely minerality and lemon acidity. A very good wine that's a bit fresh to have now by the glass but it could be tricked with the proper dish on its side.

5/29/13, 2:45 AM - The wine reviewed here (20% of it having spent 6 months in oak) is the Argyros Estate Santorini (previously labeled "Canava Argyros"). The Argyros Assyrtiko on the other hand, is a tank fermented wine that sees no oak at all and is mostly exported and rairly found in the Greek market. And of course there is the flagship Argyros Estate Santorini Barrel which is 100% oak fermented and aged which you also reviewed. I have to admit that the labeling system of this winery is somewhat confusing regarding these 3 labels and I myself have had trouble several times in selecting the right name for the wine to be reviewed. That being said, your review is absolutely precise and complete and honestly I have no intention to "tear you to pieces" for awarding wines less "inflated" scores than I do.
