Pipcelot Likes this wine: 92 points
August 24, 2013 - Mr. Owl, how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop? I have had two bottles of this baby now, two years apart. I had the same impression and experience this time around as the first. It starts out at about an 89 even with aeration: tight and muted but well-balanced and relatively fruity so you might think that's the show. But wait. And wait. And wait. In three hours, the wine turns into a 92-94. After three days, it's still almost just as good: huge red fruit and, better yet, all of that structure you first noticed holds things together throughout the palate. A really, really nice pinot noir but it is vital that you give it lots of time to open up.
