September 18, 2013 - This is one of the highest expression of Cabernet Sauvignon in Napa. The Madrona Ranch has a seductive bouquet of crushed blueberries and succulent blackberries, led pencil shavings, black earth, rounding out with a pinch of white chocolate. Entry is a bit angular with some perceived heat and slightly clunky tannins, however the palate quickly develops into fleshy macerated tiny black fruits and violets that cling to your mouth to create an explosive experience. The vintage character comes through again in the short to medium finish where you find fruit, tannins, and some drying wood. This wine speaks of its terroir, as any wine from Abreu would. It's close to the peak with good amount of fruit left, but don't wait too long. I can only imagine this wine in an excellent vintage...

10/14/13, 3:29 PM - We opened up the 2001 at our wedding a few weeks ago, and it was incredible. Picked up a couple bottles of this 2000 at a fraction of the price. Great note!
