Community Tasting Note

September 20, 2013 - Dark purple color. Amazing nose of black currant/cassis, blackberries, minerals (wet stone), graphite and some sweet spices. Very beautiful on the palate with notes of dark fruits again (cassis, dark berries), licorice, dark cherries, some leather, and spicy/peppery notes and a touch of tobacco. Full-bodied and dense, with medium-high but pretty silky tannin and medium acidity providing some freshness to the big wine. Very long finish. This is hands down the best Thalabert I have ever had and I have been tasting them pretty regularly since the 1995 vintage. While I always liked the aromatic profile it lacked sometimes in mid-palate and density, which is obviously not the case here. And after 30 minutes of aeration... it even shows a much more complex flavor profile. I'm pretty sure, it will age very nicely too. This is a great value for Northern Rhône!

1st impressions fully support the views above, but have left half a bottle to see what happens tomorrow.

    Great notes.....thanks!

If our singular btl is anywhere near where I imagine it's going for 2022, it will be enjoyed with incredible smiles on our faces at this side of the World. Thanks for sharing, and enjoy the well deserved ego trip :-)
