November 1, 2013 - Pop and pour. Light maroon color. On the nose, it almost smells like Gamay Noir (there's something about the nose of '07 Will Valley Pinots that's very distinctive). The initial palate tastes like fresh strawberries. There's plenty of acidity framing the fruit, but it's not excessive, nor is the fruit under ripe and tart. Good length on the finish. To be sure, this is a light-bodied wine with high-toned fruit, but I think it avoids the shortcomings of many '07 wines (for example, some folks tried to make up for the lack of ripeness in the fruit by using too much oak which was a disaster). This is a great food wine.
