December 12, 2013 - This was my first Myriad. Knowing how young the wine was, I gave it a solid six hours in the decanter. While it did open up nicely, you can still tell how young and tight this feels. I would certainly wait at least another year or two to try another bottle. This did have a smooth and silky texture with blackberries and currants being the primary fruit flavors on the palate with some oak, vanilla, and spices. The only reason I am not scoring this Myriad cab beyond 90 points is because it had a very subtle bitter vegetable character that did not seem to dissipate. My guess is that this bitter vegetable trace will diminish with time. Overall a nice cab.

12/16/13, 11:10 AM - I am a huge fan of Myriad and of the last 4 vintages this is the worst of the napa. I opened a bottle this weekend and also noticed a harsh edge, which you described as "bitter vegetable". I am hoping they will improve with time. You should expect and receive quite a bit more from future bottles of Myriad!

12/16/13, 11:27 AM - Jaxpaj - Thanks for the comment. I did like the wine overall, but you are right, that bitter vegetable edge just wouldn't go away. I tried a little the next day as well and it was still there. Still good, but I do hope that harshness goes away with time. Looking forward to trying future Myriad wines.
