December 21, 2013 - 91-93: started off the Solstice celebration; elegant, refined, with nice fruit, some nutty/yeasty notes. The finish was decent but not exceptional. Excellent with dinner.

12/21/13, 12:31 PM - I was actually planning on having this champagne tomorrow night. Did it have a good amount of air time in the ice bucket? Maybe I will open it up early and bring it to the restaurant with a twist stopper, or if you think it needs more time, choose another option.

12/21/13, 12:51 PM - I wasn't part of the preparation, but I am guessing it was done right knowing the host. The Krug was certainly flashier, but this Veuve was beautiful and a bit delicate.

12/21/13, 12:57 PM - I also have a '95 Krug or a '99 Cristal available. I do have some '98 SWC, but they are ear-marked for an event next year. I still have a case of '96 DP, but my wife isn't a huge fan of the style. a year back we had the '95 LGD and it was really good. I opened it a couple hours before we went to the same exact restaurant, and enjoyed the meal with Born to Rhone as he comes up here for holidays and such.
