December 26, 2013 - I rated this the same as the '00 Lascombes. The two wines could not have been more different. Where the '00 was smooth and silky, the '01 was bolder, bigger and more fruit forward. The '00 evidenced the earth and woody notes I expect from this old world wine. The '01 was more reminiscent of a new world style. The '01 was a deep garnet in color and the nose was a bit green and musty as would be expected but what a difference on the palate.

12/27/13, 8:23 AM - Well-observed, as the 2001 was the first wine made under new ownership and an entirely different winemaking team. Perhaps you should keep going on your mini-vertical, though I would skip the 2002 altogether. Cheers!
