January 11, 2014 - Nuits St. Georges-Mostly Chevillon and Mugnier (Beltramo's, Menlo Park): Perfumed blue and red fruit. Berryish quality, slightly fuller than the Cailles but more penetrating acidity and great impact on the palate. Smooth, round, generous and long. Rich, sappy, serious black fruit and excellent punch at the end. Lots of buried tannin. A complete young wine with tremendous potential.

1/12/14, 5:59 PM - Thank you for the tasting note, this is the only wine I went long in 2011 and I bought more than usually. But I can't help to be skeptical, why is this wine is not tainted with "lady bugs" and the Cailles is.

1/12/14, 9:06 PM - Good question. I bought both wines as I always do and was very disappointed to see how the Cailles is currently showing. I suppose it is possible that the Vaucrains will eventually exhibit these green traits as well, perhaps buried beneath more material, but I certainly hope not.
