January 16, 2014 - Pop and pour. Initial nose is straight up cheddar cheese (Dubliner Irish cheddar to be specific); as it opens there's additional plum and coffee notes as well. Soft, medium-bodied fruit, the plum on the nose comes through on the palate. Fine-grained tannins give some traction on the back palate, but there's not much acidity. Drank it with a dinner of chicken enchiladas and it didn't have enough punch to hold it's own with the meal. As it opens the wine seems a little tired (past its prime). Basic, straightforward Bordeaux, no bells or whistles.
