Community Tasting Note

January 19, 2014 - This is an unreleased, employee wine from Wrath/San Saba. From 2007 (in shiner, I believe it was 2007 vintage but was possibly bottled in 2007) and a case was forgotten or lost in the warehouse. Ambiguity surrounds this wine... Not sure if it is the mission grape, or grapes from a California mission (or possibly both!). Your guess is as good as mine!

As far as tasting notes go, this is quite nice! Sort of Italian Nebbiolo meets Spanish Tempranillo! Visually very light, can see through the wine in the bottle, but darker than a rose and more of a mix of blackberry and brick. A slightly darker, slightly musty and dusty nose yet with red fruit lurking. In the mouth it's all wild strawberry, herbs, fruit leather, and chalk with a wisp of tutti-fruity youth. Chalky, fine grained but noticeable tannins and just a hint of that trademark non- vitis vinifera foxy musk. Pretty wild, well made, what an experience. Vary lightly stained natural cork, no other dada as this was from a shiner. Super cool.
