July 8, 2007 - What a difference a year makes! I first tasted this when it appeared in our store about a year ago. I enjoyed it well enough, but not to the point of buying it until it went on sale, when I bought only one bottle. Tasting that one bottle now after a year of ageing, I very much wish I had bought a case. Delicious but atypical. The texture is fuller and richer than the more austere, lime dominated style I normally associate with Australia. This wine is very strongly tinged with peach (but dry peach, not the sweeter peach of the German style). Not particularly mineral. Would have with a different type of food than the trout or pickerel I normally think of for Australian Riesling. Possibly a pale pork chop, or with a richer chewier fish such as cod, or a fish in cream sauce. Impressive.
