Community Tasting Note

  • La Cave d'Argent Likes this wine: 92 points

April 3, 2014 - This deep ruby wine (a blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre and 15% Syrah) was Vinturi-decanted and serially tasted over the ensuing three hours. It is a luscious, velvety-textured Châteauneuf flaunting aromas and flavors of black raspberry, allspice, earth and fennel. Medium-to-full-bodied and with low-to-medium acidity, it weaves its alcohol (14%) and generous sweet tannins seamlessly into the flavors. Solid in the middle and closing long, this is nothing more than hedonism! Use this one as a "primer" for red wine lovers who are unfamiliar with the appellation. Drink now-2022.

6/7/16, 5:56 AM - I wonder if you have anymore bottles in your cellar, as i can't help noticing the difference in alcohol content on my bottle (states 15%) and yours saying 14%.

btw totally agree on your TN.

6/7/16, 2:45 PM - Unfortunately I have no more bottles. I usually report what is on the label (which is not necessarily the true alcohol level). Is it possible that your bottle is the Vieilles Vignes?

6/8/16, 10:50 AM - Thanks for your reply. No it's the regular neuf. Well, the rules for stating abv in US are different from the European, perhaps that gives them room to "bend" the abv they put on the label.

9/28/17, 1:19 PM - Thanks for the note! I have both 750's and Mags, both say 14% alcohol.
