April 20, 2014 - The four vintages of Col Solare I've tasted have displayed noticeable nuance, no two are the same. The 2005, 2007, and 2009 vintages, however, can generally be categorized as bold; the 2008 is subdued, even elegant, by comparison. The nose is mostly mute, the attack soft. The wine comes to life at the mid palate, showing refined grainy tannins, and very nice acidity. This is accompanied by charming dark berry fruit that emerges from behind the oak. In a word, racy.

8/13/14, 1:17 PM - Thank you for the kind words San Diego Dago. If you haven't tasted it, but you have liked previous vintages, at $29 it's a steal. The 2008 is a little softer and smoother IMO, so that's the variable. If I was buying Washington wines, and I am not right now, I would be tempted to pick up at least half a case at $29. Hope that helps.
