April 24, 2014 - Great fill and general condition of bottle. Gentile double-decant for sediment 2.5 hours before serving. Nice nose of red fruits and dried herbs, but with a touch of oxidation when first served. Palate also seemed to show signs of decline when first served with a decayed fruit characteristic, some sour fruits, mushroom and resolved tannin – but ample acid seemed to keep it together. However, after about an hour in the glass (3.5 hours after decanting) the oxidative notes seemed to disappear – replaced with floral red fruits and anise. Nice wine that still has some life – but not extraordinary.
