Community Tasting Note

May 18, 2014 - Wow... It amazes me that I agree with the text of the previous tasting notes (for the most part - not reminding me of Gamay at all here) but I completely disagree about the score. This wine is an adventure....

Double decanted with an aerator (the old school kind that just pushes the wine across the side of the decanter, not that newfangled super-aerate plastic crud). Very barnyard and fresh turned earth from the get go, with medium plus tannins and medium acid. Loads of black fruit - blackberries, black cherry, boysenberry, plum. A very interesting wine, kept me engaged throughout the meal (ribeye and cauliflower) and dessert (an assortment of very dark chocolate) and paired well with it all.

To be completely honest, I could be under-rating this at 88. Very enjoyable and greatly benifited from the decant, would love to see this with a few more years in the bottle. A very tasty and engaging wine, drink now - 6yrs.

BTW, I absolutely love good Gamay, just don't see any close relation.
