June 22, 2014 - This Rkatsiteli has undergone extended maceration in qvevri (Georgian amphora), and as a result the colour is darker and more golden than most mature sweet wines, and the nose could even fool you into thinking it's sweet. Intense dried apricot, orange peel and honey give it a pleasing richness, but on the palate, it's the grippy tannin and steely dryness that's a shock to the system with a mouthfeel that's difficult to describe; the best I can say is walnut and a slightly unripe, fleshy sloe. Not for neophytes ****
