September 25, 2014 - Lovely Rioja nose, leather and fruit up front, a hint of licorice on the finish. Good acid-tannin balance, enough structure that it should age nicely for a few more years, but drinkable now after some time to open. I believe WS gave it a 90, and that seems close. Local store currently has it on sale for $15, which is a steal, will have to put some away.

10/29/14, 8:02 PM - Chelidon what do you suppose the drinking window is for this wine, in particular the end year? You hinted at it but I'm curious if you have a view on a particular end year. Thanks. Cheers.

11/6/14, 1:59 PM - Based on how it's tasting now, my best guess on end date would be 2017-2019, with peak towards the latter half of the 2015-2017 range. Several of the other recent vintages have been going over the hill at a bit prior to the 10 year mark, and judging by the slightly heavier structure of the 2009, I think we're looking at about the same, maybe an extra year or two at most. I opened a bottle of the 2004 the other night and it was definitely on the downhill side -- not markedly, but I'm not going to hold any back. Cheers! Great bio, by the way.
