October 4, 2014 - Disappointing. I sampled this over the course of hours, and gave it plenty of opportunity to open up with air. Apart of a softening of structure over the course of those hours, there was not much improvement. There was no increasing lift to the fruit, nor any increase in fruit sweetness. The result was a consistently tart and dry palate, highlighted by tea, dryness, and some bottom notes of red fruit and forest floor. Cellaring this wine was a waste.

10/5/14, 1:48 PM - I believe many of these intensely structed wines, many from Volnay & Corton, will require 20+ yrs to come around. While there was some charm early on with this bottling, I feel presently, they are completely shut down. I'm looking forward to the first of my bottles in 10 yrs.
