October 13, 2014 - The fruit was a little more tired, and we tasted this against two other syrahs of separate provenance. This was the weakest, but it was by far the oldest.
The nose is certainly showing the tertiary, with earthy, funky and leathery notes coming through, and coming through on par or on top of the red and black fruit still left to find. The rest of the structure of this wine is very sound, and though it is older it has aged in balance. The acidity and tannin and matter are all still very much in lock step.... just not that present anymore. I would drink this sooner rather than later.1 person found this helpful 2,566 views
