Community Tasting Note

November 11, 2014 - Brought to CT SEA double-blind tasting with the theme of "odd wines". Very dark in the glass, long legs after swirling. Lots of anise on the nose, sweet deep fruit in the mouth. Long finish, with more anise and noticeable tannins. Double decanted 2.5 hours before tasting, and it was noticeably smoother than when I tasted just after opening. This was 6th out of 10 in the group, and was tasted just after an older Sangiovese (yin and yang!). Most people thought this was a young wine.

11/15/14, 1:21 AM - It is a young wine. This puppy still needs to sleep, but I think I enjoyed my last glass considerably more than you guys did. How long did you let sit? I found that it needed hours to come to a place that really turned my crank.

    11/15/14, 4:49 PM - HI Geppetto,

I opened around 3:45 PM and decanted for an hour, poured back into bottle and left home at 4:45. We started our tasting after we ate pizza, so drank this around 6:30 - 7:00 PM. One of our group (f22nickell) hates Tempranillo and Merlot, and he ranked this 9th with the merlot tenth. My highest scoring wine of the 10 wines we tasted was 92, so a very tight banding between my top wine and fifth wine, obviously. One of our group (hankj) had this as his top wine.

11/16/14, 12:13 AM - I think F22 is firmly planted in the Pinot world, no?

11/16/14, 7:22 AM - Yep this was my #1, 93-94 points. I'm surprised how many in our group really disliked.

11/16/14, 7:19 PM - How could you not love this wine? It really blew my socks off and I think it has a really great future. I think I'll try to go a bottle every couple years over the next 12 years. If I can find it, I'll buy some future vintages.

11/16/14, 9:16 PM - I think that your question is a bit rhetorical. BTW, for me 90 is loving it.
