Community Tasting Note

November 3, 2014 - A Tasting of Wines From Italy (Roy Thompson Hall, Toronto, ON): Very classical leaning wine here with a lovely nose of dried orange peel, red lozenges, red currant, tar, perfume, cherry, hints of brown sugar and slight dried lemon peel note. Tannins, while big, come across more silky than the normal Barbaresco with high acid and a medium plus finish. Very nice.

12/25/15, 6:53 PM - Love your review of this! I also posted my review of this wine. I didn't pick up the orange peel or red lozenges though. I did get some licorice and honey or perhaps it was maple syrup or blackstrap molasses. Very rich and a big red for sure. What would you pair this with food-wise?

Pairing wise, I think an ideal match would be Osso Bucco.

12/26/15, 9:07 PM - Thank you for your reply! Amazing how you mentioned Osso Buco because that very night, I was chatting with a good friend and asked her what she was cooking for Christmas dinner and she said Osso Buco and I said I didn't know what that was so I was researching it online. The next day, I saw your reply mentioning Osso Buco! I will definitely try it someday. My Barbaresco was a half bottle so it's long gone by now but I am thinking I could try pairing a rich red with the dish. Any alternative suggestions? Thanks Wine Canuck! Tonight I am having a really nice Rose Sparkling from Chateau Renaissance (Finger Lakes). My good friend is the wine maker and he gave this bottle to me as a gift. It's super chilled and really delicious. What are your favorite sparkling wines? I love Raventos De Nuit and the Billecart Salmon.
