August 22, 2013 - A Pinot with 276 days on skins, in a usual discussion with a winemaker you talk about 'on skins' for 15 days post ferment, 20 days, maybe even 30… what should you be expecting from a wine that throws out the rule book ?

In short, an exceptionally interesting, textural and polarising wine that will change the way you look at Pinot.

The wine is a slightly cloudy red in colour, with the nose showing earthy cherry aromas and some background cinnamon.

The thing that amazed me about this wine was it's freshness, given the wine has been on skins for so long i was half expecting flat raisin fruit, but it couldn't be further from the truth, with the palate having a mouth watering acidity throughout.

In terms of fruit there is definitely varietal cherry, with dried spices and a tannin structure that fills the mouth, but is balanced by concentrated fruit, the length is superb.

Those who are looking for a traditional delicate and precise Pinot may be in for a shock, but will find themselves with a seriously enjoyable drink.
