January 28, 2015 - This smells lovely tonight, with a sweetly floral background note layered under black olive, scorched earth, leafy greens and bright black currant and jammy blackberry fruit. On the palate it's a touch lean at first, with a pleasant base of herbaceous black currant fruit married with oak that is fading into the background. The acidity keeps this juicy, and while the tannins have softened they do linger on the moderately long finish. Earthy and a little rigid in the mouth, this still has lots to offer those of us who prefer our wines softened with time, and the complexity that brings. Notes of black tea, and hibiscus emerge in the mouth as the finish steadily lengthens. Not a wow wine but one that is totally captivating. Air is very kind to this. Strongest at the 4 hour mark. A lovely bottle of Cabernet that remains fruity and savory.
