February 1, 2015 - Russk. I brought to Leftovers at Pablo's. 2hr+ decant. The beautiful nose gives it away. Yes, oaky and full of dill. But in a good way. Nice acidity. No rough edges. So supple. Wish I had more. Tied for WOTN with the 2004 Valpane Valpane. Best wine with the cedar smoked salmon.

2/2/15, 6:20 PM - Rioja is often my go-to red when I want red with fish. That was true here especially with the smokey woody notes coming from the cedar. That said, fine mature rioja pairs with so many dishes. "it's genius" . If pairing with steak, I would lean towards fillet, as you might with very mature Bx or Burgundy.
