March 7, 2015 - After the experience with the bottle I opened just 5 weeks ago, I really didn't see the point in taking up space unnecessarily with this final bottle. While it's my preference to put some age on wines in general, there are the exceptions - wines that show much better in their youth; this appears to be one of those exceptions. Held since release, this was charmless. Again. Well composed, technically, but absent the verve and nuance I'm always looking for. If you've got some, and you haven't checked (at all?) in a while, I recommend doing so. Medium-bodied, avg acidity, red fruited; no complexity. 14,5% abv (fully resolved). Drink now.

3/7/15, 10:09 AM - Sorry to hear that this disappointed. My one bottle of this was the first I ever intentionally bought for aging, and it sounds like its time has come...maybe even come and gone?

3/8/15, 12:39 AM - Are you sure it is not just in a closed phase? I found these wines very age worthy....I had a 2000 recently and found it very decent....

12/26/17, 10:23 PM - I checked in on this one over the past few days. Days 1 and 2 were somewhat disappointing. I'm sitting here with it on Day 5 and it's excellent. I'm with Paul on this one. Hold hold hold!

12/27/17, 5:37 AM - I have to believe that I drank them well before there time. But...day 5? It would have been nice if the wine had thrown me a bone on the many occasions I had it, but I guess some just keep things (impossibly) close to the vest for ages. Thanks for sharing, learning is what keeps me going.

    12/27/17, 7:49 AM - Yeah ... Day 5. :P

It was opened and shoved aside when it was big/burly/tannic on Day 1. Same thing on Day 2. Days 3 and 4 didn't really present an opportunity. I sincerely thought when I poured my Day 5 glass that it was going to be an oxidized drain pour, but such was not the case. From Days 2 through 5 it sat upright in the cool garage with a cork in it. Crazy stuff.

Previous experiences with this wine have been variable for me. As recently as 2016 I was opining this needed 5 more years, and I still agree with that. I see this one as being long-lived; we shall see, as 3 remain sideways over here.
