Some searching revealed it is blended with Cannaiolo, which I imagine is the source of those softer, plumier qualities. Warm, ripe fruit, soft but persistent tannin, balanced acid. Some oak influence.

    I still prefer the pure (or close to pure) sangiovese tuscan wines, but this is still a very decent wine for the price point. Short to mid-term drinking.
