April 18, 2015 - Rich fruit, soy sauce, a bit of acid on the finish...definitely one of my favorite CdP houses. I prefer the strong mineral presence in the '07 vintage, but this is still quite delicious. As it opens up, the savory notes become more prominent and the acids less so; I'm hard pressed to say which profile I like more. This is one of those wines that, when I drink it, I think: I must go here, to this part of the world, and see what it is really like.

4/20/15, 4:53 AM - I have most of the vintages back to 04. The 04 is so good. I haven't had 06 in a while but I remember it being a little lighter and more elegant than 04. I drank through my 08's which were very solid but not as concentrated as other recent vintages. I haven't opened any 07, 09 or 10 yet. As far as other producers, I like Vieux Donjon a lot. Also St. Prefert, but it tends to be fruitier and lacks some of the spice and funk that Pegau has. Beaucastel with a lot of age is really good. In general I prefer the more restrained CdP's rather than the massive 16% versions.....
