April 25, 2015 - Rather peppery and stemmy. Not what I expected from this estate.

4/26/15, 2:42 AM - Ouch! We have a few bottles, but have waited to sip given most people say the 2010 is not yet ready. Your comments do not seem to reflect the age, but a general thumbs down about how it was made. We would be gravely disappointed if that happened when we opened our first bottle. Did you inform Maybach? We find they are very open to constructive criticism.

4/26/15, 12:05 PM - Maybach is a great winery and I love their wine. This wine is well made, just surprising stylistically. I expect more fruit from them than I found here, and the pepper on the attack was almost like a Syrah. It wasn't a matter of being too young or tight -- it was more green than I expect. The 2000 Gruaud Larose, from what I can remember, is a similar comp -- but there is more pepper here. In any event, it's not worthy of a complaint to them but I would see if you can taste this somewhere as it doesn't taste like any other Maybach cab that I have had.

4/26/15, 11:03 PM - Thanks. Very interesting. We have three bottles in our cellar so we will dive into one soon. We also love their wines. Do you like Blankiet? We prefer the Gruaud Larose 2001, which is drinking very nicely right now. Thinking Portugal tonight...
