May 24, 2015 - Enjoyed from magnum last night! Bottle popped with vigor and bubbles were perfect. Darkish straw color. We drank alongside a 2004 Dom and the color difference was clear and evident. Right away the characteristic old, pre LVMH gunsmoke flavor on the palate with a lingering finish leaving a distinct impression. Over the course of an hour evolved into burned caramel which then mellowed out to caramel.... Absolutely stunning wine. The table agreed it was likely drinking at it's absolute peak, with perhaps another 5-7 years left for aging. But why wait. Prepare a wonderful meal and enjoy this champagne, preferably from magnum.
