June 3, 2015 - (Decanted for two hours.) This has a beautiful purple robe with a dark garnet meniscus. Though a blend of merlot and cabernet franc, there is a musky nose laced with almost Syrah-like dark fruits, rosemary and scorched meat. The fragrance is very buoyant and persistent. Medium-bodied, round and silky in the mouth. The vibrant flavors of tangy red berries and cherries, sweet black plums and herbs have good length and depth and are nicely framed by moderate tannins. Excellent balance overall and no decline in sight. As much "Rhône" as "Right Bank", this delicious California wine has really come a long way since last year. Perhaps this time around it was given enough air? 92+ points.
