Community Tasting Note

November 7, 2015 - A warm November eve in Cleveland (Our backyard): I wanted to let this age, but my wife likes young, bold wines and Carlisle may be her favorite winery at the moment. Perfect for tonight. Purple in color. The nose has kisrch, slight bramble, slight framboise hard candies (those powdered sugar kind), and licorice. Great lush, but juicy texture. Lots of black raspberry fruit, some red raspberries, slight candied note (in a good way). Some tannins left. Great balance. Delicious!

11/8/15, 6:48 PM - have you had the 2012 montafi or pagani? love those too- Carlisle crushed it in 2012

11/9/15, 4:33 AM - I have had the Pagani (back in June). It was great but better on day 2. Carlisle has been on a roll for years now and just gets better.

11/9/15, 8:44 AM - Loren, I enjoy your comments. I have had Carlisle zins at least 40 times and have consistently found them much better the 2nd day. Has that been your experience given your comment "my wife likes young, bold wines and Carlisle may be her favorite"

11/9/15, 9:03 AM - MD. Not Lauren but I have been on the Carlisle list since 2000 and have 114 currently in my cellar.

This is, by far, the youngest Carlisle I have had ... All because Loren posted a 94 and I couldn't help myself. I usually start drinking zins at 5 years and syrahs at 6-7. Second day better often means it is still young and, if you want to pop and pour, give it a few mor years.

Drinking 2008 and 2009 now and they are great pnp.

11/9/15, 11:50 AM - We rarely have a Carlisle open on the second day. Too easy to finish. I do think that they can last and perhaps improve. The 11's were so good right off the bat, that I have been drinking some 12's that way as well. Either way. The freshness of youth vs. the complexities of age.

11/9/15, 2:46 PM - Informative comments by all! Wish I had some of the 2011 but am a relative newcomer to Carlisle. I'll hold off drinking my other bottle a year or three.
