December 28, 2015 - Pnp, probably, you really can not ask too much from 2011 Napa wines. Supple but lean is the common feature of 2011. Structure and flesh are missing in most of the wines. In this Merlot based Estate cuvée, the nose is almost masked by creamy and cedary aroma with a bit smoke. This is not too surprising for me after tasting lots of 2011 Napa wines. Most of the wineries have this dominant cask flavor but not the power of their grapes. On the palate, I am really surprised the body fading away so fast! I found the wine reach the peak in glass so fast around 30 mins but fading away around 1 hour. This is hard for me to give points. It can hit 92 at peak. On the other hand, it is only 88 at low part. To sum up, I give it 90 as average. In this struggle year, I won't blame them too much, because they did a pretty great job (I am sorry that I am too harsh on 2011 Blamkiet prince of hear, but they deserve it.) At this price range, there are more great 2012 or 2013 Napa wines out there. Nevertheless, if I have the other chance to find the deal, I will try better vintages from the vineyard. Based on my memory of the trip in Napa, they really have prestige vineyard and great grape vines, which impressed me so much. Having this kind of property definitely will give you top 10% wines in the world. I am looking forward to taste their epic vintages.
