  February 9, 2016 - Mostly Merlot (42%). Decanted through a Vinturi. Still quite dark, throwing a moderate amount of sediment. Some lightening on the rim. Nose of cherry cordial - that rather than dried cherry probably because of a fleeting hint of cocoa that did not come through on the palate. There was definitely drying fruit in the entry that was cherry jam-like. I found no real herbal character despite 36% Cab Franc. Still had good acids, some tannins, and a decent finish. A nice wine but not a lot of complexity. May have an upside with more time but I didn't see it.
