February 15, 2016 - Purple color with a brown rim. Bouquet and flavor of dilute barbecue sauce. Balance very off with nothing to recommend it, and I mean nothing. Unfortunately, very typical of the CDP's in my cellar from the early 2000's. This could be a consequence of several factors. These wines had to weather Katrina and that may be the explanation, but I have had many other Katrina wines, which proved to be excellent. It could also be a consequence of believing that these wines could age better than most wines, which should be drunk within about ten years. I think that this is a major factor, and my recommendation to everyone is to drink sooner than later. Finally, while Robert Parker made many positive contributions to the wine world, he certainly hyped a great many wines, which was good for him, but not for us.

2/15/16, 6:03 PM - Highly likely this wine was heat damaged. The 2000s I have had in the past year are drinking well. Sorry you had a bad bottle. Years ago, I shipped a bunch of bottles that were exposed to heat in transit. Some were fine, others weren't. I don't know why some wines seem to be effected more than others.
