Community Tasting Note

  • Bob H Likes this wine:

    April 11, 2016 - A day 2 note.

Light gold in the glass, with a focused nose that is more about minerality than fruit.

Light- to medium-bodied on the palate, decent acidity, with a honeyed note as well. Very likable, although at least here in the states, the QPR is questionable.

4/11/16, 5:27 PM - Bob, I almost brought the Chappaz Grain Arvine La Louye to your house yesterday. I like the one you opened but it is a bit pricey for what it is. Perhaps with some age it would be more interesting.

4/12/16, 7:45 AM - Jeff, I can't take any "credit" for this particular wine - I just told Rob to give me 2 bottles each of six different wines for a mixed case when he did the Chappaz offering, and this was one of the wines he selected.

As I think we discussed briefly on Sunday, regions like Austria/Styria and Switzerland are difficult from the QPR perspective because local demand for the wines is so strong that there is little reason for winemakers to discount their product for an export market.

So probably not a wine I would buy regularly given the price, but it was cool to try it.
