April 17, 2016 - Double decanted through a Vinturi. Intriguing nose of black cherry and a whiff of cherry cola. The wine is a pretty light purple, light to medium bodied with expressive sweet black cherry fruit, spice, and a hint of wet stone. There is very nice acidity and enough tannins to balance. After 1.5 hours, it was still opening up. The finish is medium long. This is an excellent wine that would pair well with a variety of foods from simple fish to exotically spiced Mediterranean fare. Although it drinks beautifully now, I believe it has several years of improvement in it.
