May 30, 2016 - I think this is drinking at its apogee. It walks that fine but beautiful line between mature, and momentarily disorienting complexity, and fresh, vibrant lushness of a young, primary wine. Over the three hours this was open, it became a more distilled version of itself, increasing in intensity, weight, and saturation. It begins and ends in balance with medium red fruit, lush and sweet tannins, and tart acidity. While it's not the most complicated affair, it delivers everything it was ever possessed to offer, and, in that, there is beauty. A wine, much like that golf shot that keeps us brimming with hope and coming back for more suffering, that reminds us burgundy drinkers why we pursue such fleeting and rare moments, particularly in "value" wines.
