July 6, 2016 - OK, what's happening here? Great producer, renown vineyard, widely acclaimed year and yet this is weird. The color is pretty dark, the nose is feral, closer to a rustic Gevry Chambertin than a Volnay, on the palate I can sense some fruit but this is totally disjointed. Cherries are clashing with earthiness, there's no finesse, no elegance, no joy. I have had better 2007 d'Angerville Champans, heck, I have had more elegant Sonoma Pinot Noir. Is this the reward we're getting for storing these 1999s for so long? Were we sold a pup?
Oh, and as far as provenance, I've had this since release
