September 1, 2016 - 14.7% abv. I liked this more than I expected to like it. It is a little hot from the alcohol but it has bright fruit and prominent spice. It suggests purple plums and perhaps spices from India. I'm not sure if the quality is bolstered by the age of the wine or by the inherent quality of the grape source--the Clos Pepe Vineyard--or both.

9/8/16, 12:51 PM - I'm really glad to have read your review. We've been opening a few of the 06's that i purposely let age as an experiment and they've all drank surprisingly well. Even an 06 Shea Vineyard that was honestly amazing--one of the best wines we opened last year. I find it interesting as Brian
Loring has said that his wines aren't meant to age. Maybe it is the vineyard or just an unintended result of his wine making philosophy

9/8/16, 1:02 PM - I still have one bottle of the 2006 from Shea Vineyard and one from Garys' Vineyard as well as some of the 2007 vintage from Loring Wine Company. I will probably open the Shea wine this fall--possibly at Thanksgiving. Thanks for your comment.
