September 11, 2016 - 2013 Mostly cabs but some other stuff too (GHT): This also got two votes for WOTN. I teetered on giving this 100 but if I had to teeter, it didn't get it though I am not sure why. I had high hopes for this and it exceeded them. The bottle was opened at 10AM and allowed to breathe. The nose has cassis and blueberries with cedar and spice. On the palate, this is a powerful masculine styled wine. Its a bruiser. Lots of cassis, some blueberries as well on the palate. A bit of cedar but very clean and young. It is above all though, just delicious. Probably the most delicious wine on the table. It will be interesting to see where it goes from here. My first time trying this wine, it makes me wonder if perhaps the Poetry is worth the $300 per bottle if it is better than this.

9/11/16, 11:13 AM - Hi there. So my assumption is if you are debating about the Poetry, then you think $165+ for this BTK is a decent pricing given the quality? I had the 2012 version of this and was a little underwhelmed. However, I haven't had the 2013, and the winery is still selling it at the $165 release price. Your thoughts are appreciated as always.

(PS: Sounds like a great dinner and awesome evening of spectacular wines!)

9/12/16, 8:27 AM - The Poetry is almost $300. I can't imagine that it is much better, but who knows. The trouble is they only sell 6 packs so I will probably pass. THe BTK was phenomenal though. Its hard to say a wine is worth that much, but comparatively speaking, it is.

9/12/16, 9:16 AM - I suppose the BTK seems like a comparative "deal" given the quality. The six-pack only $1,500 Poetry is a no-go for me too. Had I been able to acquire an individual bottle or two... Maybe... But in 2013 there are so many great wines at half that price. Thanks very much for your insight.

9/13/16, 2:43 PM - Thank you for posting your notes. I'm debating if I should open a bottle or not. I heard 2013 are a solid HOLD at this point. Did you aerate the wine via decanter or just uncorked the bottle? And for how long before consumption. Thanks again!

9/16/16, 8:26 AM - This bottle was just opened and left uncorked. It could have used more time. My remaining bottles I will hold for a while (5 years?)
