September 28, 2016 - Our last bottle and what sadness that gives us.
A wine that got better and better and better ; a wine of great generosity and style. Vanilla , blueberries, kirsch, and a faint hint at new leather make the wine so interesting to taste. It was fun to drink and it is rare that we say that. Nothing harsh , nothing astringent at all , just soft tannins and a gentle , but structured , mouthfeel. Matched classically with roast lamb and redcurrant reduction it was absolute perfection. Not a blockbuster but a very pleasing more modern style of Bordeaux. It was so good that one of our number who tasted it blind thought it at LEAST of second growth quality/precision.
If D'Aiguilhe 2010 is representative of new style Bordeaux we think it is in very safe hands . Indeed we liked this bottle more than the famous producer's wine from more illustrious and higher ranked vineyards in the same vintage. SUPERB FOR THE PRICE.5 people found this helpful 4,316 views
