  October 1, 2016 - No formal note as this was a few days ago, but the night I had this I also opened a Ridge 2012 Cab Sav and I was sure the Van Westen would not be equal. Very different wines, but the Van Westen was fabulous! Right out of the bottle. There was a peppery finish like a Syrah which I loved. I have always loved Rob's wine, but knew they need some years on them. This 2012 is great right now.

  11/23/16, 5:21 PM - I agree with you DarrenV. the '12 is drinking fine now and has some structure to reward later. Still not at the '09 calibre. We're big fans of Rob and his wine.
