October 30, 2016 - Well made wine, but didn't have the "wow factor" of previous Saxums I've encountered. Gamey nose. Definitely has a black pepper and dark fruit aspect to it. Full bodied wine and heavy on the palate. Maybe a bit too much so. Palate mirrors the nose and the finish is spicy and long. Sweet, yet prevalent tannin finish to it. Will age for quite a few more years. My estimation: this will be at its best in about 2-3 years, and stay there for quite a few. Not brilliant, but a solid, well made wine.
