November 4, 2016 - Lots of juxtapositions at this stage. Light in body and with furry tannins. Sweet cherries offset by sour rhubarb. Floral and earthy. The fruit is a bit wild yet somehow elegant. Not monumental, but unmistakably Mascarello.
This is notably better than the 2014 langhe nebbiolo offerings from G. Rinaldi and G. Canonica. That said, I think the 2013 is my favorite B. Mascarello langhe Nebbiolo of 2011-2014. With the hype machines in motion, a few bottles will inevitably arrive stateside and be offered at a stupid price of $50+ ...but it's worth trying once if you love the house.1 person found this helpful 3,238 views

11/5/16, 11:22 AM - I liked the 2014 when I had a bottle on holiday in Sicily but prefer the 2012. (Haven't tried 2013 yet.) In her "I'll Drink to That" interview, Maria-Teresa Mascarello did say that in some vintages they use purchased grapes for the Langhe Nebbiolo.
