February 16, 2008 - colour: dark crimson colour
on the nose: this is sexy. I mean SEXY. Plum, black licoricce, cinammon, some hints of strawberry, a beautiful floral component - sweet unbloomed carnations, and some other warm spicy notes. This is a sexy girl in a dark dance hall in a bright red dress. Beckoning, flashes of leg and teeth, sultry, sweet, elegant and more than a little spicy!! I've been smelling this wine for the last 5 minutes I think I could keep going on.
in the mouth: really elegant mouthfeel. silky smooth. plums first, then cinnamon stick, red cherry, unripe strawberries, black pepper, freeze-dried raspberries, and some green bell pepper. Tannins are very present, and I'm getting the sense of "round tannins". Not straightforward but they sneak up, show up, sneak away again. Nice balanced finish, very long with spicy and bell pepper notes carrying through. I'm left with a pleasant cherry and black pepper spicy finish, some clean bell pepper hanging out underneath. There's a savoury note carrying through from nose to finish that I can't quite peg. Ends up that I got up close to her, she looked better from across the bar, but we're still going to rip up the dance floor tonight!!
