Community Tasting Note

March 11, 2017 - PNP and enjoyed over a few hours. First from a lot bought at auction after loving this at one of our quarterly tasting events (Thx NYCCABLOVER for bringing).
Nice to taste again on it's own...and great to see my love of this juice is still strong.
Initial nose is like an old world bdx. with lots of poopy funk, forest floor and dark red fruit. Just the way I like my 20 year old new world merlots.
Texture is super silky, but the acid backbone gives it nice grip and keeps things interesting and engaging. There's still plenty of fine, well integrated tannin here as well which means this wine has a long life ahead.
Love the balance of fruit, tannin and acid. Well made!
On the palate, there's lots of earthiness, chocolate, cassis, dark berry. Pretty complex due to the secondary flavors that come with some age.
Would be interesting to see how this performs in a tasting against some fine Pomerols.
